Negative Space aims to give people who love film a home
We’re building a community of like-minded film photographers who want to learn and create together. Think co-producing a Zine, sharing photographs, tips, borrowing cameras! We want to be the glue that brings this together
Phase 0
Right now, we’re setting up a mail order film lab in an industrial unit in Park Royal. It’s not our final location - but it’s a big first step towards our own community space. We’ve been up and down the country, sourcing the best film processors, enlargers, scanners and learning from loads of people along the way. You can learn about our misadventures in our blog here!
Phase 1 - Building our lab & community
Now, we're just starting to scale our mail-in lab lab. We’ll keep prices fair and accessible, and invite early supporters to send in their rolls for dev & scanning at cost.
We’ve got all sorts set up for Founding Members, including discounts, merch, and even a say on how we shape the future community-activities of the lab!
Membership gets you access to our online community. It's early stage but we're a very friendly bunch!
Phase 2 - The Negative Space
Soon, we aim to open in a dedicated space in London - a physical home for the lab and community. Our space will be casual and open-minded - for you to meet other enthusiasts, sit and work on a project, exhibit your work, or just hang out!
It will have with communal darkrooms so you can get stuck in yourselves. This will include access to professional grade equipment, colour and B&W printing, in-person workshops to help teach you new skills. And even a Members Room fitted where you can dev and scan your own film!
In the evenings we'll repurpose our space for community events like poetry readings, film nights and anything else we can think of.
